Maria Isabel Lopez is recovering after figuring in a car crash.
The beauty queen was all smiles in a hospital bed as seen in her daughter Mara Lopez's now-expired Instagram story.
“She's alive and that's all that matters," she wrote. "@beautyqueenmil Mahal kita, pagaling ka.”
Lopez herself also commented on the story, "Survived a car crash. Thank you Lord," ending with a prayer emoji.
The beauty queen told ABS-CBN News that the accident happened while she was driving in Sebastopol, California. "I was five minutes away when we had a head-on collision with a car in the opposite lane," she said.
Lopez shared that she ruptured her small intestine and had to undergo surgery.
Lopez is known for being Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1982. She also represented the country in the 31st Miss Universe Pageant in Peru.
After pageantry, she became an actress, starring in Silip: Daughters of Eve, Isla, and Mga Nakaw na Sandali, and GMA's TV series Survivor Philippines, Legacy, and Widow's War, among others.
She also starred in Brillante Mendoza's internationally acclaimed films Ma' Rosa and Kinatay, where she won Best Supporting Actress in both Gawad Tanglaw and Golden Screen Awards.
