Lily Allen says she doesn't 'need revenge' after breakup with David Harbour
Lily Allen seems to be moving on just fine after her split with Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Speaking with Interview Magazine, Allen clarified that she's not on a "revenge tour" following her split with the actor.
“That’s what’s fun about this record. It’s viscerally like going through the motions," she told the outlet. While she previously said that it's inspired by the breakdown of her marriage, she stressed it's not a revenge album.
"At the time, I was really trying to process things, and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now," she continued. "I don’t need revenge.”
“I wrote this record in 10 days in December, and I feel very differently about the whole situation now,” the Smile singer added. “We all go through breakups and it’s always f***ing brutal.”
She added that the songs in her new album, West End Girl—her first in seven years—were "based on truth and some of it is fantasy."
Allen and Harbour first met on a dating app, and later tied the knot in 2020. In February of this year, insiders confirmed that the two had ended their four-year marriage.
Following their split, she revealed in a podcast that she went to a treatment facility, where she participated in group therapy and some individual therapy after struggling with "emotional turmoil."
"I’ve been into those places before against my will, and I feel like that’s progress in itself," she said. "That’s strength."
