Challenge accepted!

Following a challenge from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who commented on her TikTok video, social media personality Abi Marquez has accepted the task of creating Beef Wellington lumpia.

Abi, who is known for experimenting with lumpia recipes, shared a video of herself making a deep-fried crepe-like version of Gordon's Beef Wellington.

"Hey Gordon, I hear you're coming to the Philippines for your new restaurant. But I'm here to prove you wrong," Abi said who then proceeds making the dish, starting with beef tenderloin.

She begins by preparing the onion, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, and the savory crepes. Then, she does the wrapping process, carefully layering the cooked meat with lumpia wrapper, crepe, prosciutto, and mushrooms.

She then packs the uncooked lumpia Beef Wellington and heads to Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill in Newport World Resorts to cook it.

"This is very interesting, I don't know how this is gonna go down. Good luck to you," a chef from the restaurant who offered to help Abi said.

Upon completing her dish, Abi confidently approached Ramsay at his restaurant, who addressed her by her first name. "Do you know me?" she inquired.

Gordon replied, "Do I know you? The whole internet knows you!" He then challenged her, "Can you do it?"

Abi presented her creation and posed a bold question: "Is this better than yours?"

Gordon, the renowned Hell's Kitchen host, examined the lumpia. "Visually," he declared, "it looks very good." He then took a bite, his expression shifting dramatically. "I'm really sorry but I don't like it... I f--king love it!"

He praised the dish, declaring it "a very, very posh spring roll."

He said: "Delicious. May I have some more, please?"

"I'm taking this away before someone steals it," and says he can have a glass of wine with his lumpia.

Gordon is a renowned chef who has become an influential figure in the culinary world. He has earned over 20 Michelin stars awarded to his restaurants worldwide.

The renowned chef's first establishment in the Philippines, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, opened its doors at Newport World Resorts in Pasay City on Aug. 31, 2024.

He graced some of the country's industry makers in Manila on Monday, Jan. 20 for a meet-and-greet, hinting at opening three more restaurants in the country.

The gathering also featured a 10-minute cooking challenge a la "MasterChef" with celebrity chef Judy Ann Santos, food influencer Ninong Ry, culinary student Danica Lucero, and Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill PH head chef Bea Therese Qua, who gave their own takes on the beloved Pinoy dessert, halo-halo.

Gordon is also known for his hit shows MasterChef, Kitchen Nightmares, and Hell’s Kitchen.
