Woman reportedly arrested for stalking BTS' V, giving him marriage certificate
Talk about fangirling gone wrong. A woman was reportedly arrested for stalking BTS member V in his apartment building and handing him a marriage certificate.
The arrest comes after the woman, who was said to be in her twenties, followed the K-pop idol into the elevator of his apartment building on Oct. 26, at around 6:30 p.m. KST.
According to a report by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) which was carried by Soompi, the woman also attempted to speak to V and even handed him a marriage certificate.
The stalker is suspected to have waited for the BTS star outside the building and then followed him when his car entered the property's parking area.
She flew the coop when a security guard attempted to stop her. However, she was arrested the following morning by the police, with the name and information she provided on the marriage certificate she handed to V. It was also reported that the woman has a history of stalking the star.
BTS' record label, BIGHIT MUSIC, later released a statement on the same morning of the individual's arrest.
“We are responding with a no-tolerance policy to stalking crimes that disturb our artist’s personal life and threaten their safety," the agency was quoted as saying by Soompi.
V, or Kim Tae-hyung in real life, likewise assured his fans that he has been doing good despite the incident. On the same morning, the Layover singer took to the fandom platform Weverse to post a photo of himself basking in orange sunset. He captioned the post, "Ayhey, I am fine--Do not worry."
He also updated his Instagram Stories with clips of him and his band enjoying some jamming session. "taecrew," he captioned his post along with emojis of musical notes and instruments.
This is not the first time the members of the K-pop supergroup have taken action against obsessive fans. Back in May, the group's youngest member, Jungkook, warned against sending food straight to his home.
"Do not send home delivery food. I won't eat it even if you give it to me," he began his post on Weverse.
"I’m thankful from my heart, but I eat well. Buy instead for yourself please," Jungkook continued. "If you send it one more time, I will look up the receipt order number you sent and take action. So stop."
