'I did a thing': Chris Brown receives honorary PhD

Chris Brown received an honorary PhD in Visual & Performing Arts.

On Instagram, the singer-songwriter revealed that he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Harvest Christian University.

"I DID A THING!" he captioned his photos showing him in a black and purple toga during his graduation ceremony.

He also gave a look at his certificate bearing his real name, Christopher Maurice Brown.

According to the University, the honorary degree "can only be conferred to an individual who has demonstrated success and acumen over a track of time, denoting experience and applied knowledge. public service, or in a field of knowledge and scholarship, consistent with the ideals and purposes of Harvest Christian University."

Brown has been in the music scene since 2002. His self-titled album Chris Brown reached double platinum in 2006. He became the first artist since 1995 to top the Billboard Hot 100 with his debut single Run It!.

The musician is behind a number of hip-hop and pop hits like Kiss Kiss, Yeah 3x, and Look at Me Now.
