As Karla Estrada campaigns for Bongbong Marcos Jr., Daniel Padilla supports Leni Robredo: 'We live harmoniously'
Daniel Padilla has voiced out his support for Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential bid after film director Mandy Reyes shared a now-viral post of them posing with her campaign poster—as his mother Karla Estrada campaigns for Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Padilla was spotted beside a vehicle with a pink campaign poster that says “#10Robredo” in Reyes’ Facebook post on Wednesday, Mar. 9.
“Aba ewan ko sa inyo. Basta kay #LiderLeni kami ng tropa kong gangster,” the director wrote.
Estrada, on the other hand, has always been a staunch supporter of Marcos’ presidential bid and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. She was spotted in Marcos’ proclamation rally in February 2022 as a representative of the “Tingog” partylist.
The TV host and singer reaffirmed her support for the UniTeam tandem on Mar. 7 as she re-shared a photo with fellow Marcos-Duterte supporter Toni Gonzaga on Facebook.
Despite the political differences, Estrada clarified in a Facebook post that her family “strongly believes in democracy” and they maintain a harmonious relationship.
“I raised my children to have their own opinion, stand their ground not because they are swayed by the public. They have an independent mind rooted in their own beliefs. But in the end, we talk, we love, and live harmoniously,” Estrada said.
This is not the first time Padilla expressed his support for Robredo as he and his real-life girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo campaigned for her vice-presidential bid in 2016. Meanwhile, Bernardo’s mother Min has always been vocal about Robredo’s presidential campaign which can be seen on her social media account.
Padilla and Estrada are not the only showbiz family members with opposing political views. Jake Ejercito, the son of former president Joseph Estrada, also voiced out his support for Robredo on social media.
Meanwhile, Estrada’s party Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino is one of the political clans that formed a coalition in support of the Marcos-Duterte tandem in November 2021.
On the other hand, actress Janine Gutierrez has been actively campaigning for Robredo’s presidential bid on her Instagram account while her maternal grandmother Nora Aunor is a supporter of Marcos Jr.
