Angelica Lopez brought the eerie “Mangkukulam” to life as her national costume for Miss Grand International 2026.

Designed by Patrick Isorena, Lopez’s national costume drew inspiration from the “Mangkukulam,” a figure rooted in Philippine folklore.

The striking ensemble featured a towering sculpture of a woman behind Lopez, representing the mystical figure, while Lopez herself took on the look of a voodoo doll, complete with needles and button-like eyes.

"Born from the shadows of Philippine folklore, where mystery meets mysticism and ancestral wisdom lives on," the beauty queen captioned her post.

"This is more than a costume. It is a tribute to the stories that shaped our imagination, the traditions passed down through generations, and the powerful spirit woven into our Filipino heritage," she added.

Lopez earned the Reina Filipinas Grand International crown held in August. She took home the Best in Swimsuit award, along with the Reina Pasarela and Reina Urban Smiles titles.

She previously represented the Philippines at Miss Asia Global 2022, Miss Universe Philippines 2022, and Miss International 2024.

Lopez is vying to win the Philippines' third Miss Grand International crown, following back-to-back victories by CJ Opiaza and Emma Tiglao. The coronation night is happening on Oct. 10 in Thailand.
