First-time jobseeker? Here's how to apply for an NBI Clearance online
As the summer peak approaches and graduation season concludes, a new wave of Filipino graduates is transitioning into the professional workforce.
Among the primary pre-employment requirements is the NBI Clearance. Issued by the National Bureau of Investigation, this document certifies that an individual has no criminal record, serving as a critical verification of a candidate's background.
However, obtaining this clearance is often a demanding process; between scheduling and potential delays, applicants should expect to dedicate at least half a day to secure it.
Fortunately, the shift toward online processing has streamlined the application. Here is a guide on how to apply for the document online:
Via the NBI website
The most common way to obtain your NBI clearance is via the NBI website, which includes a link to the NBI Clearance page, clearance.nbi.gov.ph.
For those who will be applying for their clearance for the first time, register a new account first.

Create and re-enter your personal password.
Once done, click the "READ and ACCEPT TERMS OF SERVICES." A pop-up of the terms will appear. Click "I Agree" after reading it.
After that, you can finally click "Sign Up." A One-Time Pin Verification will then appear. Check your mobile phone for the six-digit code then enter it in the prompt.
By now, an NBI Clearance account has been created. Check on your email for an NBI message then click Activate Account.

Once in the app, tap the NGAs (National Government Agencies) category.
Under the NGAs, tap the second category, Certificates and IDs, and click NBI Website.
Once accessed, fill in the necessary data. Enter your personal information, emergency information, parents' details, occupation and salary range.
