‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ re-release in works with extra footage: report

Fans may get another chance to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the big screen, as a re-release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is reportedly in the works with additional footage.

According to Deadline, sources said Sony Pictures is planning to bring the superhero film back to theaters with new scenes. The extra footage is expected to include, among other additions, Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, who was cut from the theatrical release.

Dawson previously revealed that she had filmed a scene for Brand New Day. Her character, Claire Temple, is a nurse who has appeared across several Marvel television series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

The outlet reported that the additional footage could include more surprises, though details remain under wraps. There is also currently no word on when the re-release will hit theaters.

The planned re-release comes after the success of Avengers: Endgame Encore, which returned to cinemas with additional footage ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, stars Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and others. The film opened in theaters on July 31.
