How big a consideration is getting their family's blessing to get married for Carlos Yulo and Chloe San Jose?

Boy Abunda posed this question to the couple in a Fast Talk interview, published on March 23.

Yulo and San Jose looked at each other before agreeing to a negative answer. "Yeah, hindi po eh," Yulo said.

"As long as tayong dalawa nagkakaintindihan... yeah," the two-time Olympic gold medalist added while looking at her girlfriend.

"I feel like it would get complicated. When [there are] too many people getting involved," San Jose said. "And I feel that if you have the right circle, they wouldn't make you feel that way, to have to consider them or not consider. It's a safe space po kasi."

She continued to say that no one in their circle makes them feel like they have to consider them.

Earlier in the interview, San Jose admitted she found out about Yulo's plan to propose after she saw an email notification about an engagement ring. Yulo shared that he did not push through with his purchase.

In 2024, the Olympic gymnast said he and San Jose plan to get married by 2025.

Also in that year, Yulo broke his silence regarding issues surrounding his mother, Angelica Yulo, and San Jose. He confirmed that his relationship with his family, particularly his mother, is strained due to alleged mismanagement of his earnings and her apprehension over San Jose.

In the Fast Talk interview, Yulo stated that despite his public rift with his mother, he doesn't hold a grudge.

"Walang kahit anong galit, sama ng loob, pagtatampo, wala 'kong nararamdamang ganun," he said.

"Ngayon, kung tatanungin ako ni Lord na 'gusto mo ba silang makasama?' Wala naman pong problema. Ako, tinry ko 'yung best ko na kausapin sila, mapag-ayos ang lahat. Pero hindi ko po hawak 'yung sagot na 'yun."

Angelica has since apologized to the Olympian for her revelations in a press conference in August 2024.
