MOR 101.9's DJ Martin D dies at 56

Veteran radio personality DJ Martin D, one of the longtime voices of MOR 101.9, has died at 56.

His daughter, Yey Carteciano, announced his passing on her Facebook account.

"We are still trying to process this painful loss, but we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has reached out, offered prayers, and extended their sympathy," she wrote in a post. "Your kindness means the world to us during this incredibly difficult time."

The cause of the radio personality's death was not specified.

DJ Martin D, whose real name was Martin Oliver Solis Dipasupil, joined MOR 101.9 in November 1996 when the station was known as WRR 101.9 For Life.

He remained with the station through its subsequent rebrands, including Tambayan 101.9 and MOR 101.9, becoming one of its familiar on-air personalities. He stayed with the station until it ceased operations in 2020.

In 2011, DJ Martin D received the Best Music Radio Jock award at the 20th KBP Golden Dove Awards.

The wake for DJ Martin D will be held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 at the Amethyst Chapel of Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina. His funeral and inurnment are scheduled for Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. at Loyola Memorial Park Crematorium.
