MRT-3, LRT-2 to offer free rides on Apr. 9
If you're a commuter hoping to save on fares as fuel costs continue to rise, here's a timely perk for you: free train rides!
DOTr MRT-3 and the Light Rail Transit Authority announced on their Facebook pages that passengers can ride free of charge on their respective train lines during peak hours on April 9.
Available times are from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Both regulators say this offer is in celebration of the valor and sacrifice of Filipinos as commemorated on the 85th anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan.
To take advantage of the offer, simply head to your preffered station, where staff will distribute single-journey tickets at no cost.
Meanwhile, the LRTA is also offering free rides to veterans and one companion until April 11.
All they have to do is show their valid Identification Card issued by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
