Actor Jeon Seung Jae dies at 47 after two-year coma

South Korean actor Jeon Seung Jae has died after spending the last two years unconscious.

Korean media reported on July 29, Wednesday, that Jeon passed away at the age of 47, with a wake prepared at Shillakwon Gyeonggi Funeral Hall in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, followed by a funeral procession on July 31.

The exact cause of his death was not disclosed. 

In 2024, Jeon suffered a brain hemorrhage while awaiting filming on the set of the KBS historical drama Korea-Khitan War. He reportedly collapsed at the filming site in Suwon and was rushed to the hospital for surgery.

The actor remained in recovery for two years without regaining consciousness despite the support of his family, friends, and fellow actors.

Jeon made his acting debut in 2004 in Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War. He also appeared in films such as The Recipe, Hello Ghost, and on Netflix's The Bequeathed and The Good, The Bad, and The Weird.
