Samsung trolls Apple over iPhone Duo launch: 'So far, same'
Samsung had a field day mocking Apple following the reveal of the new iPhone Duo, the brand's first foldable smartphone.
The tech giant—which pioneered the category with the 2019 Galaxy Fold—launched a barrage of cheeky posts on X during Apple’s major Sept. 10 launch event.
"So far, same," Samsung Mobile US posted, before adding, "Making us wait? Fine. We'll be over here, folding 3 ways,"
Another post quipped: "Let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers."
They also shared: "Was there range? No. Was it exciting? No. Did it happen? Yes," while adding the hashtag #ItsTimeToSwitch.
Other brands quickly joined the banter. Language-learning platform Duolingo reacted to the new iPhone's name, writing, "It's called the iPhone WHAT???" While calling the event "exciting," the green bird app jokingly hoped its "brand doesn’t get infringed upon."
Samsung chimed in on the thread: "I'm so sorry, @DuoLingo. They copied us too #Solidarity." Duolingo retorted, "When an ugly stranger calls you twin."
Even dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster weighed in, "Not to brag, but our product has been foldable since 1828."
Meanwhile, Samsung Canada went savage, posting a Galaxy Z Fold8 video set to Kourtney Kardashian’s iconic line accusing her mom Kris of stealing her style. In the video, the text read: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Not to be outdone, Samsung Philippines dropped a promo clip for its foldable lineup with a caption: "Allow us to reintroduce ourselves. 8 years in and still ahead of the fold."
Since introducing the original Galaxy Fold back in 2019, Samsung has spent years refining the category. Its latest flagship, the Z Fold8, features Galaxy AI, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and a sleek 201g frame into an 8.99mm profile.
Apple, meanwhile, is stepping into the foldable game for the first time with the iPhone Duo. Said to be the thinnest iPhone, its hinge is made with over "100 components" for precise control and a "satisfying feel" when opening the device. It is powered by an A20 Pro chip supporting Apple Intelligence for features like Siri AI. The foldable will support Apple Pencil with USB-C for taking notes, sketching, and more.
