Fans of Middle-earth can relive the journey of Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring gets a live orchestral accompaniment in the Philippines next year.

Film Concerts Philippines will stage The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert from March 4 to 6, 2027, at The Theatre at Solaire.

As Peter Jackson's 2001 film plays on the big screen, its Academy Award-winning score by Howard Shore will be performed live by a 247-member ensemble.

It will comprise the 96-member Filharmonika Orchestra, the Philippine Madrigal Singers' 100-member adult choir and 50-member boys' choir, and soloist Malena Rampi. They will perform under the baton of conductor Reuben Blundell.

This will be the largest ensemble Film Concerts Philippines has assembled to date.

Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, The Fellowship of the Ring follows young Hobbit Frodo Baggins, who is tasked with destroying the One Ring before it falls into the hands of the Dark Lord Sauron. The film received 13 Academy Award nominations and won four, including Best Original Score for Shore.

Since its premiere in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 2008, The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert has been performed by orchestras around the world. It is part of a wider Lord of the Rings concert series that has been staged more than 500 times.
