'Bar Boys' sequel, 'Love You So Bad,' and other final MMFF entries announced

The final entries for this year's Metro Manila Film Festival have been announced.

MMFF announced on Friday, Oct. 10, the final four entries for its 51st edition, which will open on Dec. 25. Carrying the theme, "A New Era for Philippine Cinema," the newly revealed films and their respective stars are:

  • Love You So Bad, starring Pinoy Big Brother alums Bianca de Vera, Dustin Yu, and Will Ashley, directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar. A collaboration project between ABS-CBN Films and GMA Pictures.
  • UnMarry starring Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo, directed by Jeffrey Jeturian. 
  • Bar Boys: After School, starring Odette Khan, Carlo Aquino, Kean Cipriano, Enzo Pineda, Rocco Nacino, with Sassa Gurl and PBB alums Klarisse de Guzman and Will Ashley, directed by Kip Oebanda.
  • I'mPerfect, starring Krystel Go and Earl Amaba with veteran actors Joey Marquez, Lorna Tolentino, Tonton Gutierrez, and Sylvia Sanchez, directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo.

The final four titles revolve around romance, drama, and socially relevant themes. I'mPerfect will tackle about two adults with Down Syndrome navigating life and romance, while UnMarry is a legal drama revolving around the journey of going through an annulment. This film also marks Angelica Panganiban's comeback since 2021.

In July, MMFF unveiled the first official entries for this year, namely, Call Me Mother, starring Nadine Lustre and Vice Ganda; Rekonek, starring Gerald Anderson, Gloria Diaz, Alexa Miro, Carmina Villaroel, and Zoren Legaspi; Manila's Finest, starring Piolo Pascual; and Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins, starring Ivana Alawi, Francine Diaz, Kaila Estrada, Fyang Smith, Loisa Andalio, Manilyn Reynes, Janice de Belen, Carla Abellana, Ysabel Ortega, Ashley Ortega, Elijah Alejo, Richard Gutierrez, Ryan Bang, JM Ibarra, Dustin Yu, and Seth Fedelin.

The MMFF 51st Parade of Stars will happen on Dec. 19, while the Gabi ng Parangal will be held on Dec. 27.
