New details emerge about Presley Gerber's death at 27

New details have emerged about the death of Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel-actress Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. 

According to a 911 dispatch audio recording obtained by Page Six, an automated voice on the call can be heard mentioning both “cardiac arrest” and “overdose.” The address provided to dispatchers was in Santa Monica, where Gerber was staying at the time.

The entertainment outlet reported that Gerber had checked into a Santa Monica rehabilitation facility just days before his death. Per an insider, he sought treatment because he "knew he needed help."

“He had not been doing well,” the source told Page Six. “He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person.” 

Per a TMZ report, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner said Gerber was pronounced dead on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 9:45 a.m. The Santa Monica Police Department said officers responded to the facility at around 9:35 a.m. following a report of a possible overdose and found an adult male deceased at the scene, later identified as Gerber.

While the dispatch audio provided new information about the emergency call, Gerber's official cause of death has yet to be established.

Gerber is survived by his parents and his sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber.

His family asked for privacy following his death, saying they are going through a “very difficult and painful time.”

Gerber had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and substance use in the years before his death, opening up about his recovery journey on social media from time to time.
