A social media user has been arrested after years of cyber harassing Korean actress Shin Se Kyung.

Shin’s agency, The Present Company, shared an update on the case on Dec. 20, saying that the malicious commenter of the actress has been arrested through legal procedures, K-media outlet Soompi reported.

In its official statement, the agency stated the perpetrator has “continuously engaged in acts of intimidation, malicious slander, the circulation of false information, and insulting behavior” toward the actress, her fans and family, and those around her for several years via various online platforms. According to them, their actions caused “severe psychological distress” to the victims.

The Present Company said they worked with Ascendant Yoolbon, a law firm, which helped them collect evidence and “utilize every possible legal measure,” including reports from fans.

The investigation of the case is still ongoing. Shin's management warned that they will continue to take legal measures to protect the rights and interests of their artists and staff.

“Cyber harassment, which exploits anonymity and goes beyond the bounds of freedom of expression, has become a serious social issue. We will continue to work toward eradicating such behavior and hope that this arrest contributes to fostering a culture of responsible and healthy communication,” its statement read.

Shin is known for her roles in series such as Run On, Arthdal Chronicles, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, Captivating the King, and The Bride of Habaek
