The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has unveiled a new P10 commemorative coin with a QR code on the back.

The coin is set to launch in January 2026 in celebration of the Philippines' role as chair of ASEAN in the following year.

In front, the coin features the same profile of Filipino hero Apolinario Mabini.

Meanwhile, at its back are the logos of ASEAN 2026—which represents the theme "Navigating our future, together"—and BSP, as well as a QR code instead of the usual kapa-kapa flower.

The central bank said that this implementation "bridges" tradition and technoogy and gives the public easy digital access to ASEAN 2026 updates.

When the QR code is scanned, users will be directed to the BSP website which also links to the website on the Philippines' ASEAN hosting in 2026.

The commemorative coin, which can be used for payments, was first presented to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Nov. 26.

Alongside this, BSP introduced a P100 Philippine Festivals Silver Commemorative Non-Circulation Legal Tender 12-coin series.

On Nov. 14, Marcos led the formal national launch of the country's chairship of ASEAN in 2026. The upcoming gathering will focus on three priorities: peace and security anchors, prosperity corridors, and people empowerment, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

It is composed of 11 member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste.

The P10 ASEAN coin will be circulated alongside the P10 new generation currency coin series and the P10 BSP coin series.
