Rhian Ramos’ legal team ready to file cases over malicious attacks
The legal team of Rhian Ramos said they will press charges against those who initiated malicious attacks targeting the actress following allegations of illegal detention and assault filed by her driver.
Her legal counsel, Kapunan & Castillo Law Offices, said they are preparing to file civil and criminal cases against those spreading malicious posts about the actress.
Atty. Lorna Kapunan told GMA News that they have identified the individuals behind the malicious campaign targeting the actress and are monitoring those spreading it.
“Even if she’s a celebrity—a public figure—she has her own private life outside her show,” Kapunan stressed.
This came after fake posts circulated on social media, after her driver, alias "Totoy," claimed that Ramos and beauty queens Michelle Dee and Samantha Panlilio had detained and tortured him after he was accused of stealing Ramos' sensitive photos.
For their part, Dee's counsel, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque disproved his claims, saying it's "physically impossible," especially since Dee was in Iloilo on the day he said he was detained.
“Physically impossible and also incredible kasi based on the allegation of the driver, nangyari daw ‘yung alleged mauling and illegal detention from Jan. 17 to 19. So ‘yun ‘yung mga period na sinabi niya," the lawyer said. "However, records would show na si Michelle Dee was in Iloilo noong buong araw ng Jan. 17, and she was able to go back to Manila only on Jan. 18."
She also pointed out that the driver's medical examination results do not align with his testimony.
Earlier this month, the Kapuso star spoke out for the first time regarding the allegations against her, saying she's confident that the "truth will set [them] free."
“Well honestly, siyempre sino ba naman ang matutuwa. I can say yes, it’s in a way stressful pero I’m also quite confident na the truth will set us free,” she previously shared.
“I just can’t give so much details about everything because we might be waiting for a possible case or whatever. So, I can’t give too many details, but in the end, the truth will set us free,” she added.
