Facebook remains top news source for Filipino internet users: Pulse Asia survey
A recent Pulse Asia survey found that Facebook remains the leading online source of news among Filipino internet users, with 91% of them saying they use the platform to read, watch, or listen to the news.
The findings came from Pulse Asia Research's July 2026 Ulat ng Bayan nationwide survey on internet and social media use.
Per the results of the poll, 85% of Filipino adults use the internet, with 80% of them going online more than once a day. The majority of them (91%) use Facebook as their main source of online news (from 94% in March), followed by YouTube at 61% (from 63%). TikTok came in third at 21% (from 23%), while vlogs were cited by 9% (from 10%) of the respondents.
Only 5% said they get their news directly from news websites, while 4% cited Instagram and 2% cited X. Three percent (3%) said they don't read, listen to, or watch news online.
The survey found that Filipinos primarily use the internet to check social media, with 100% of users doing so. Around 97% go online for news about government and politics, while 91% consume other content of interest, including movies, recipes, and celebrity news.
Pulse Asia conducted the survey through face-to-face interviews from June 28 to July 3 and on July 6, among 2,400 Filipino adults aged 18 and above. It has a margin of error of ±2 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
The same poll found that Filipinos rely on their personal beliefs and the number of times a post has been shared when deciding whether to believe content they see online. Read more about it here.
