LOOK: Amazon’s new Kindle lineup is slimmer, sleeker, and comes in Ube color
Kindle is turning the page on a new chapter as Amazon has unveiled a lineup of redesigned e-readers, promising slimmer devices, brighter colors, and a more comfortable reading experience.
In an announcement, the e-commerce giant stated that they have completely redesigned its Kindle family "from the ground up."
For the first time, the devices have new shades including Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green, and Graphite. The Fig color is also making its debut on Kindle devices.
A standout from the lineup is their new 6-inch Kindle, which is touted to be the most pocket-sized Kindle they've ever made.
It comes with 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life, and opens books 30% faster than the previous model. It also features a flush-front display, meaning there is no raised border interrupting the reading surface. The device starts at $149.99 (P9,415) and comes in Ube and Graphite.
For those looking for a more premium option, Amazon is also offering the model with an aluminum back. It comes with 32GB of storage and is available in Alpine Sky Aluminum and Seaglass Green Aluminum for $189.99 (P11,926).
The Kindle Paperwhite is also getting a makeover, becoming thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
It retains features such as waterproofing and an adjustable warm light, while offering up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. Its display has also been upgraded to deliver higher contrast, deep blacks, and crisp text.
The 16GB Kindle Paperwhite starts at $199.99 (P12,553) in Graphite.
Meanwhile, the Paperwhite Signature Edition comes with 32GB of storage, an aluminum rear housing, an auto-adjusting front light, wireless dock charging, and a double-tap feature for turning pages. It starts at $249.99 (P15,692) and comes in Graphite and Seaglass Green.
For readers who want a little more color in their digital library, the Kindle Colorsoft features what Amazon describes as a “paper-like” color display designed to be easy on the eyes.
The gadget uses new technology to improve color, brightness, clarity, and contrast without washing out details.
The standard Kindle Colorsoft comes with 16GB of storage and starts at $289.99 (P18,203) in Graphite. The 32GB Colorsoft Signature Edition, meanwhile, starts at $319.99 (P20,086) and comes in Graphite and Fig.
Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft will also have kid-friendly versions, which start at $179.99 (P11,298).
But the lineup doesn't end there, as the company is also introducing new accessories to make your reading experience a little more convenient.
Among these is the Kindle Click, priced at $34.99 (P2,196), a Bluetooth remote that lets users turn pages without touching their e-readers. There's also a new Page-Turn Cover ($79.99 or P5,021) for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition, which features physical page-turn buttons while maintaining the devices' slim form factor.
A Charging Dock ($59.99 or P3,765) is also available for the two Signature Edition models, while new Kindle covers ($39.99 or P2,510) come in knit fabric, plant-based leather, and premium leather.
The new Kindle and its aluminum version are now available in select markets, including the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Japan, Australia, and several European and Middle Eastern countries. The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft will meanwhile be available for preorder on a rolling basis in the same regions.
Amazon has yet to announce when the devices will be available in the Philippines.
