Many Filipinas are still choosing to spend the rest of their lives with foreigners.

According to a report by The Philippine STAR, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas said Filipino migrant unions average around 70,000 annually.

CFO chairman Dante Ang, in a Dec. 1 forum, said the volume of these marriages has been mostly consistent through the years.

“This year, it looks like we will return to the annual average of 70,000," he said. "We will go back to the 10-year high of 2016."

American nationals remain the most common foreign spouses for Filipinos, based on CFO data, followed by the Japanese.

2013-2023 data from their website also showed similar results, with Australians, Canadians, and South Koreans forming the top five for foreign partners.

Most Filipino marriage migrants came from the National Capital Region at 41,072 or 24.14% share of the total population, followed by Cebu and Cavite with 14,625 and 9,728, respectively.

The same data showed that most Filipino marriage migrants marry at the age of 33 and are mostly college (71,200) or high school graduates (66,326). More than half or 56.98% of them are non-working.

Filipino marriage migrants are locals who left the country to join their foreign spouses via foreign citizenship or visa.
