Filipina archer Amaya Cojuangco took home silver in the women's compound individual event at the 2026 Asian Games.

Cojuangco faced Indonesia's Nurisa Dian Ashrifah in the gold medal match on Oct. 1 at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Japan.

The match came down to the final two arrows, with Ashrifah finding the bullseye on her second-to-last shot.

While Cojuangco managed a nine, Ashrifah followed it up with another 10 to secure the victory and the gold medal, ending the match with a 139-137 score.

With her win, Cojuangco made history by reaching the final and ending the Philippines' 12-year medal drought in archery at the Asian Games.

The Philippines now has four silver medals. Other wins are from Jean Claude Saclag in mixed martial arts, Marie June Adriano in karate, and the Philippine women's doubles team from the sepak takraw competition.

The country now has 19 medals in total: three golds, four silvers, and 12 bronzes.

The games will run until Oct. 4. Want to tune in? Here's how to watch the Asian Games 2026 in the Philippines.
