Local bakery café Butterboy, a queer-friendly space known for its signature croissants and Drag Brunches, has officially closed its original Quezon City location.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Jan. 2, Butterboy—which is originally located at 81 Basa St.—announced the news to its community.

"With a full heart, we want to share that Butterboy - 81 Basa will be closing its doors," they said. "Over the years, Butterboy has grown beyond what we ever imagined! What started as an online business with a weekend cafe, fueled by passion and the support of our community, has evolved into a brand ready for its next chapter."

The management explained that they made this move as they need to focus on "building and expanding Butterboy for the future."

"Closing 81 Basa enables us to realign and strengthen our operations, preparing us for bigger opportunities ahead. New spaces, new ideas, and better ways to serve more people," they wrote.

"Butterboy 81 Basa will always hold a special place in our story. It is where we learned, celebrated milestones, and connected with so many of you who believed in us from the start. For that, we are deeply grateful," Butterboy continued. "This is not a goodbye, but a step forward. Thank you for being part of our journey so far. We’re excited for what’s coming next, and we can’t wait to grow with you."

Butterboy noted that order pickups will start at their new commissary on Jan. 9.

Their stalls in SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, and SM San Lazaro are still open.
