Alex Eala defeats Mika Stojsavljevic in Pan Pacific Open first round
Alex Eala got her 2026 Pan Pacific Open campaign off to a strong start after sweeping past British player Mika Stojsavljevic in the first round.
The Filipina tennis star controlled the match to secure her place in the tournament held in Tokyo, Japan on Oct. 26.
Stojsavljevic entered the main draw on a wildcard. The British player previously made headlines on the junior circuit after winning the girls' singles title at the 2024 US Open, establishing herself as one of the rising talents in British tennis.
Despite this, Eala proved too much to handle in their first meeting on the professional tour.
The victory sends the Filipina through to the second round.
Eala entered the WTA 500 tournament looking to bounce back from a challenging stretch during the Asian swing.
The 21-year-old Filipina most recently competed at the Ningbo Open in China, where she fell to world No. 13 Diana Shnaider in the round of 16. She also suffered an early exit at the Wuhan Open and reached the round of 16 at the Singapore Tennis Open.
