The award-winning comedy franchise Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank is going to live theaters!

The Philippine Educational Theater Association on Tuesday announced the latest addition to the franchise, promising a "chaotic, sharp-witted, and laugh-out-loud look at the world of Philippine theater-making."

"In true Septic Tank fashion, the show takes audiences behind the curtain—then tears it down—exposing the ego, ambition, absurdity, and beautiful mess that fuels the industry today," it wrote.

The show’s official synopsis read: "PETA unveils its newest satire, a theatrical adaptation of “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank,” as a chaotic, hilarious meta-comedy about ego, art, and the messy reality of making Philippine theater today. From macro to micro, from venue problems to ticket prices, from what the subject matter is to what’s on Broadway, from what we love to what we hate about theater, from the past, present, and future of our beloved art."

Eugene Domingo will headline the play, reprising her iconic role as herself. While the rest of the cast is still under wraps, the production team includes Chris Martinez, who will write the script, and Maribel Legarda, serving as director.

The show is scheduled to run from June 19 to Aug. 16, 2026, at the PETA Theater Center.

The franchise began with the 2011 film, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, which satirized the film industry by following three ambitious filmmakers desperate for international recognition. It featured a pre-production stage where they pushed their lead actress, Eugene Domingo (playing herself), to her limits, even suggesting she swim in a sewer to catch people's attention.

In 2016, the story continued with the sequel, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2: Forever is Not Enough, which was an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival. The franchise then shifted gears in 2023 with the mockumentary Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 3: The Real Untold Story of Josephine Bracken, where Domingo, again playing herself, attempts to transition from actress to director.
