'Freaky Friday' sequel to hit theaters in August 2025

Disney has dropped a first look at the upcoming sequel to Freaky Friday. It also announced when the film will be hitting theaters.

On Instagram, the media conglomerate shared a photo of stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprising their roles as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.

The future film, titled Freakier Friday, is set for a theatrical release on Aug. 8, 2025.

The sequel to the 2003 film will see cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Haley Hudson, Christina Vidal Mitchelle, Lucille Song, and Rosalind Chao reprising their roles.

Also joining the cast are Filipino Canadian actor Manny Jacinto, who will play Anna's husband, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons.

Disney's Freaky Friday follows a strained relationship between a mother and daughter who switch bodies after eating a mysterious fortune cookie. While in each others' bodies, they're forced to navigate their swapped lives and work together to switch back before it's too late.

In the sequel, Anna is now a mother herself and a soon-to-be stepmom. As they navigate the challenges that come with two families merging, and it's teased that another body swapping will happen.
