Jake Cuenca on relationship with Rabiya Mateo: 'Kami na'

Jake Cuenca has put an end to all rumors by confirming that he and Rabiya Mateo are officially a couple.

When asked by talk show host Boy Abunda to categorically define his relationship with Mateo, Cuenca did not mince words to say, "Kami na."

"I'm really, really proud to say it. She's an amazing woman. Incredible woman. And very intelligent," Cuenca added with all smiles. 

Cuenca then admitted to liking Mateo's posts on Instagram and sliding a direct message as a way to reach out to her.

"Kasi sabi ko, how else magko-cross 'yung paths namin; we're in two different networks. She's always, definitely been a crush of mine and once noong tinapos ko 'yung dalawang programa ko, once I was able to finish my responsibilities, I had to shoot my shot," he said, adding that he was surprised for the actress to follow him, sparking a conversation.

Asked what he liked about Mateo, Cuenca gave dedication as an answer.

"In this world of show business... She's the person who's willing to walk away from it and go to med school and I find that very remarkable," he said, referring to Mateo's entry to the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

Cuenca shared that he officially asked Mateo to be in a relationship when they were in Hong Kong Disneylad in May, waiting for the latter's school admission results. 

"We're dating for three months, and then finally, I asked her to be my girlfriend officially," he said.

Cuenca and Mateo, who both worked as actors for ABS-CBN and GMA respectively, were previously spotted in public walking and eating together.

In March, the two were featured in a 10th birthday Instagram post by child actress Sienna Stevens.

Cuenca dated Chie Filomeno in 2023 and confirmed their split two years later. Mateo, meanwhile, was previously with Jeric Gonzales in 2022. They were the subject of split rumors in 2024.
