Enrique Gil still in touch at times with Liza Soberano, ready to love again
Enrique Gil admitted that he is still in touch with his former reel-to-real partner Liza Soberano.
In an interview on Karen Davila's YouTube vlog, Gil revealed that he did not sever his connections with the Hollywood actress.
"We're not that in touch. But we were in touch still at times, you know, especially when important things happen siguro in our lives, maybe to just check out on each other," he said.
"But yeah, we're not just as in touch as before. Yeah, we're just so busy," he added.
He also expressed well-wishes to Soberano. "My life is also all here, and her life is there, and I wish her all the best, of course. And I really hope all works out for her there and all her dreams [come] true. And I'm happy for whatever is going on for her right now."
Gil was also quick to deny any ill feelings in their relationship, "No, I think it was such a beautiful thing, like what she said in her interview. It was a beautiful thing. It was a beautiful ending."
"But yeah, the respect will always be there. I think we'll always have some sort of love for each other because we basically grew up with each other. So yeah, you know, yeah, that's what we are," he added.
"She was my childhood sweetheart, you know, and we had some really, really good memories. And I'm thankful for all those memories," Gil concluded.
When asked if he's ready to love again, Gil was quick to answer in the affirmative.
"Yeah. [I] think [I've] just been so closed [off] for such a long time. And yeah, I always keep, you know, my heart open, you know, Sometimes, kailangang ganun eh. That's life, you just have to keep going forward," he said.
"I just trust in God, whatever comes my way. If He thinks that's a person, so be it," he added.
Gil also admitted to dating during the time he was on break, "I've been talking to people after such a long time. I think very late na. But yeah, I think it's important. Mahirap din mag-isa eh."
"Konti lang 'yung oras natin dito sa buhay. You know, I just feel like I'm just also losing a lot of time with people—of course, being away [from] my family—not just with love, but with my loved ones."
Gil went on an acting hiatus in 2020. In 2023, he signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN before returning to the big screen a year later on the 2024 sex comedy film I Am Not Big Bird co-produced by his film company Immerse Entertainment.
In March 2025, Immerse Entertainment, now Slingshot Studios, signed a multi-project deal with MQuest Ventures, producing romantic thriller A Secret in Prague, which Gil headlines alongside Andrea Brillantes.
