Amy Adams recalls saving someone's life using tips she learned from her role in a medical drama
Amy Adams shared a deeply touching hero moment, recalling how she was able to apply a medical training for a drama series in real life, and eventually saving a person's life.
During her guest appearance on the "Smartless" podcast, the actress recounted an incident where she was dining out with her family at a restaurant in Santa Monica when people nearby began yelling that a man got stabbed in the neck.
"These people were screaming and a guy was walking and they were yelling, ‘He’s dying!’ And my husband’s like, ‘That’s blood!’" Adams said.
Since she was one of the "first people on the scene," she and her father decided to rush in and help while her husband, Darren Le Gallo, stayed with their daughter.
She then used the advice she learned when portraying registered nurse Alice Doherty in Dr. Vegas and began to use beach towels to apply pressure and stop the flow of blood.
"I was so focused. I was like, ‘The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay down,'" Adams recalled.
Thanks to her efforts, the man had survived the stabbing incident. What's even more remarkable was how the two of them got reunited a year later at another restaurant.
"A guy walks up to me… He’s like, ‘I heard a story that you and your dad were on the scene of a guy getting stabbed,’" she shared. "And I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s you.’ And it was him."
Dr. Vegan premiered on CBS back in 2004, but only had five of the produced ten episodes aired before it was cancelled. It centers on a young, unconventional doctor who lives and works in an old-school, Palms-like hotel and casino in Las Vegas.
Apart from Adams, it starred Rob Lowe, Sarah Lancaster, Joe Pantoliano, and Tom Sizemore.
