A feature film for Disney’s famous Prince Charming is in development, according to a report.

Citing industry insiders, entertainment outlet Deadline reported that the project is in the works at Disney and is set to be directed by Paul King, who also helmed the 2023 film Wonka. Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker are serving as his co-writers.

It's not yet clear whether the new film will follow a live-action or animated format.

Prince Charming is often one of the side roles in many classic Disney animated films, mostly portrayed as the “hero” of the princess from evil forces, like in Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, among others.

While the character is known to have originated from the 1950 film Cinderella, sources said that the new project will not be related to the latter’s storyline. More details about its plot are yet to be revealed.

King recently helmed Wonka, a spinoff of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Timothee Chalamet, which earned nominations from BAFTA and Golden Globes. He also directed the first two films of the family-action film Paddington.
