LOOK: Alex Eala serves major athleisure inspo in ruffled socks, viral Nike mules, and new mantra shirt
Alex Eala, the girl in the ruffled socks is finally home—and she brought a whole lot of inspiration (and fresh gear) with her!
At the Play Mind Games with Alex Eala event at Nike The Fort, lucky guests and die-hard fans got a first-row seat to the tennis sensation's homecoming, complete with a sneak peek at her highly anticipated new collection.
Eala stepped onto the stage looking effortlessly cool, clad in Nike gear. She sported the latest T-shirt design from her "Nike By You: In Full Bloom" collection, a pair of black Nike joggers, the newly-launched Nike Mind 001 Pregame Mules (P5,195), and of course, ruffled socks.
Designed with 22 large outsole nodes, these Nike Mind slides are engineered to trigger the sensory areas of your brain, helping you stay grounded, mindful, and completely present.
For her, they’ve already become an everyday essential: "I have been wearing the Nike Minds for a while now. I use them sometimes pre-match, sometimes post-match. They are super comfortable—I'm wearing them 24/7!" she shared to the audience.
The event also gave an exclusive look at the newest addition to the "Nike By You: In Full Bloom," a collection inspired by Alex’s beautiful journey from a young dreamer to a global tennis force—or as they put it, "from seed to full bloom."
Featuring the quote: "Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto," this mantra can be custom-printed on Nike short-sleeve tees (starting at P995), with the back of the shirt featuring the Sampaguita art by Manila-based artist Georgina Camus. This graphic was inspired by a poignant moment at Wimbledon, where a simple Sampaguita hair tie worn by Alex became a symbol of her deep roots and rise.
This line, which is exclusively available at Nike The Fort, also includes a custom tote bag (starting at P1,495) and a classic cap (starting at P795).
When asked about the meaning behind "Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto," Alex’s eyes lit up. For her, it’s a living, breathing philosophy.
"I've always been a very ambitious girl," Eala told the media. "Growing up, I've always had big dreams. Now that I've gotten a glimpse of what it's like to live them out, those dreams just keep getting bigger and bigger—and I think that's a great thing when it's backed up by hard work."
She hopes the collection serves as a daily reminder for every Filipino to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.
"I think the reason it resonates with a lot of people is because the phrase gives hope," she said. "Sometimes life is tough, and sometimes life knocks you down. The dreams and the hope of achieving them are what keep you going. I think everybody deserves to dream big, and everybody has the right to go for the dreams they have."
