In celebration of its enduring relationship with the Chinese and Chinese-Filipino communities, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) marked the Mid-Autumn Festival with grand festivities and a renewed commitment to their valued partners.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, a time-honored tradition symbolizing unity, harmony, and prosperity, is the perfect opportunity to recognize the cultural significance of the event while reaffirming BPI’s role in helping illuminate the path to business success for its clients. This year’s theme, “Illuminating the Path to Business Success with BPI,” emphasizes the bank’s commitment to customer obsession and its drive for continuous improvement in customer service.

John-C Syquia, BPI Institutional Banking Head, opened the festivities with a warm welcome to esteemed guests, valued clients, and colleagues. He extended special thanks to the clients, acknowledging their continued support and trust, which have been fundamental to BPI’s success over the years.

“The Chinese-Filipino business community has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of our country. Your resilience, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit have not only shaped the business landscape but have also been integral to the economic progress of the Philippines. We at BPI are deeply honored to walk alongside you in this journey. Your success is our success, and together, we build a stronger future,” Syquia said.

In his keynote address, recently inducted board member and BPI Director, Willy Co, shared his insights on the deep connection between BPI and the Chinese-Filipino community. Drawing from his personal experiences, he fondly recalled growing up as a fourth-generation Tsinoy in Binondo, where the Mid-Autumn Festival brought back memories of mooncakes, family gatherings, and the traditional games.

“At BPI, we value strong relationships, much like how Chinese-Filipinos value strong family ties. This commitment is reflected in how we have supported our clients, especially through times of adversity. Whether it’s a global financial crisis or a pandemic, BPI has stood shoulder to shoulder with its clients, demonstrating trust and loyalty. Always ready to do more and to be more for them,” he said.

He reflected on BPI’s 173rd anniversary, emphasizing how deeply intertwined the bank’s history has been with the strength, innovation, and commitment of the Chinese and Chinese-Filipino entrepreneurs.

“It is a great honor to be here tonight to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and to mark BPI’s remarkable 173-year journey, a journey that has been deeply intertwined with the vibrant and dynamic Chinese-Filipino business community. Your community’s strength, innovation, and commitment have been instrumental in helping shape our nation’s economic landscape. From the humble beginnings of small family enterprises to the rise of large conglomerates, the Chinese-Filipino business sector has always been at the forefront of growth and development in the Philippines. BPI is proud to have been your trusted partner throughout this journey,” Limcaoco said.
