A man has been arrested for allegedly removing the leg of someone who was killed by a train—and then eating it.

Citing court records at Kern County, California, PEOPLE Magazine reported about the arrest of Resendo Tellez on one misdemeanor complaint of “removal of human remains from other than a cemetery,” a misdemeanor charge “for possessing controlled substance paraphernalia,” as well as a felony charge in connection to violating probation.

According to reports, Tellez was seen getting the leg from the scene of a train accident that took place in Wasco, California last Friday, March 22. The collision led to the death of an unidentified person, though PEOPLE Magazine noted that it’s still unclear whether the said body part belongs to the latter.

KBAK, a CBS affiliate, reported that the 27-year-old suspect was seen “waving what appeared to be a human leg around and biting it.”

"I'm not sure from where, but he walked this way and he was waving a person's leg,” the eyewitness is quoted as saying. “And he started chewing on it over there, he was biting it and he was hitting it against the wall and everything.”

Tellez was arrested on the same day of the accident, PEOPLE Magazine reported.

He is set to appear in court on Tuesday, March 26, the media outlet added.
