Investigation completed on Chinese acrobat who fell to her death during mid-air performance

The investigation on the Chinese acrobat who fell to her death in the middle of her aerial performance has been concluded.

According to media outlet China Daily, the local government said authorities have identified the ones responsible for the female talent’s accidental death during a live show that took place earlier this month in the central Anhui province village of Hougao.

The acrobat named Sun Moumou fell to her death while performing a mid-air routine with her husband Zhang.

In the middle of their set, the couple can be seen being pulled high into the air by a crane, with Sun holding onto her husband by locking her hands behind his head while she stood on top of his feet.

As they ascended higher, however, Sun's legs began to dangle in the air as their routine took a wrong turn.

Before her husband could steady her, she ultimately lost her grip, and audience members could only scream in terror as they watch her plummet 30 feet to the ground.

Sun did not immediately die from the fall, as one of her colleagues told reporters that she was "still breathing weakly" after the incident. When she arrived at the hospital, however, doctors pronounced her dead due to her injuries.

As stated in the same report, the government officials who took part in the probe found that Anhui Yaxi Performing and Media Company, which hired the couple for the show, “illegally conducted the performance without reporting it beforehand to the local authorities.” They also didn’t follow safety measures, including the proper use of a crane to lift the couple.

The statement from the local government also read that they “vowed to punish the township's related departments and officials for their failure to fulfill their supervision and promised to strengthen the administration in Yongqiao's performance market.”

China Daily said the firm has reached a compensation settlement with Sun’s family.
