LOOK: The government's planned electronic driver's license

The Department of Information and Communications Technology showed what the planned electronic driver's license will look like.

Sate-run PTV reported that the electronic driver's license will be available in June via the eGovPH app, which aims to digitize government services and make transactions contactless, cashless, and paperless.

The "super app" is still under beta testing to date.

The Land Transportation Office on May 8 announced that the electronic driver's license will serve as an alternative to the temporary paper-based licenses being issued by the agency amid the shortage of plastic cards used to print licenses.

It will reflect the same security features found on the physical driver's license.

Plastic cards, meanwhile, will be available by July according to the Department of Transportation.
