NLEX announces increased toll rates starting June 15

The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is set to implement a toll increase starting June 15.

According to a report by The Philippine STAR, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) gave the green light for an additional P7 in the open system and P0.36 per kilometer in the closed system effective later this week.

Those who will only be within the open system will be charged an additional P7 for Class 1 vehicles or regular cars and SUVs, P17 for Class 2 vehicles or buses and small trucks, and P19 for Class 3 vehicles or large trucks.

The old rates would remain for public utility jeepneys who are part of NLEX Pass-ada as well as the Tsuper Card discount and rebate programs.

The STAR reported that the ones traveling the NLEX end-to-end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City would have to pay an additional P33 for Class 1, P81 for Class 2, and P98 for Class 3 vehicles.

The adjusted prices were made under the periodic changes in the authorized NLEX fees due in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020.

According to the same report, the TRB “allowed NLEX to collect this year the fourth and last tranche of 2012 and 2014 periodic adjustments and only half of the 2018 and 2020 increases to help ‘curb the existing inflationary situation and cushion their impact on the users of the expressway.’”
