Slain model Abby Choi’s ex-husband could face additional charges over theft incident in 2015
Alex Kwong—who is in custody in line with the brutal murder of his ex-wife, model Abby Choi—could face more charges over his alleged involvement in a theft incident in 2015.
According to South China Morning Post, Kwong was previously slapped with seven counts of theft following separate incidents within the period of 2013 to 2015. He allegedly took home a total of 39 necklaces, 32 bracelets, 13 gold bars, 102 gold grains, six pendants, and 10 taels of gold.
The SCMP said he ran away in 2015, but was arrested in February 2023 during his attempt to flee Hong Kong by boat after Choi’s murder.
“The prosecution in the theft case applied for a 10-week adjournment for police to further re-examine and process evidence spanning the past seven and a half years,” the report read, adding that a new charge over Kwong’s move to jump bail at the time is now being considered.
Kwong—along with his father, elder brother, and mother—has been arrested and detained in connection with Choi’s murder that took place in late February amid a financial dispute.
The victim’s partial remains have been discovered in a house set up as a butchery site, complete with an electric saw and meat grinder that had been used to mince human flesh.
After conducting a DNA test, authorities were able to determine that the skull that was found in a large soup pot and the two legs hidden in a refrigerator at the flat were indeed the remains of Choi.
