Factory worker with two reproductive systems has kids with man and woman
A woman in China is both a mother and a father to her kids she had with a man and a woman, respectively.
Her story, first reported by the Chongqing Morning Post in 2005, was making the rounds on social media.
59-year-old Liu, who hails from a village in Bishan county, has two reproductive systems. Her ID indicates she's a woman.
According to a report from the outlet, the woman would cut her hair short and wear more masculine clothing when she was a child. Because of this, she was often told she went into the wrong restroom in school.
When she turned 18, Liu married a man, Tang, and bore a son.
Afterward, she began to see changes in her body—she grew a beard, her breasts grew smaller, and she developed male reproductive organs, as per South China Morning Post.
Her husband left and divorced her, and Liu moved to another county to start anew and live as a man.
While working at a shoe factory, he met a woman, Zhou, and fell in love. Liu's physical condition made him weary of her female colleague, but she eventually won him over.
Because Liu's ID still identified her as a woman, the two couldn't get married—same-sex marriage is not legal in China.
Liu resorted to a bizarre plan wherein his ex-husband Tang marries Zhou. In return, Liu said he would contribute more to support their son, which Tang agreed to.
In the early 2000s, Liu fathered a son with Zhou.
As his story went viral in 2005, Liu was approached by doctors, which he declined.
While he identifies as male, he hasn't undergone gender reassignment surgery due to the cost, SCMP reported.
