Platinum Creditplus celebrates 10 years of ‘simple at mabilis’ service for seafarers

The maritime industry employs over 600,000 Filipino seafarers, but the rising global inflation is making it harder for them to make ends meet - this is where Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. (PCLC) comes in.

“When we started in 2013, we were known to be a lending company that released loans in full, no deductions. That was what our seafarers were looking for. We wanted to be there for them, and our sentiment remains the same today,” said Maria Shela Yap, general manager of PCLC.

A night to remember

The company held its 10th Anniversary Gala Night last April 5, celebrating a decade’s worth of being a modern-day hero’s financially trusted confidante.

With the theme, "Sampung Taong Kaagapay ng mga Pilipinong Marino sa Paglalayag", PCLC employees and stakeholders were decked out in formal wear and big smiles for the night.

The gala night was hosted by Comedy Manila headliner, renowned host, and podcaster James Caraan, who hyped out the crowd effortlessly.

One of the highlights of the gala night commemorated the company’s heart for the maritime industry, as a donation to Mission to Seafarers PH–a global charity with a mission to support over 1.89 million crewmen all over the world–was made. More than a gesture, the donation is a part of the organization’s Kaagapay sa Biyahe campaign, where its "simple at mabilis" promise is emphasized.

“Our general mindset as we continue to make innovations on our loan process is to make everything easy, simple at mabilis,” Yap shared. “Through the years, we have streamlined the process and the requirements to fulfill our promise of a same-day release.”

The milestones presented during the gala got attendees in high spirits, with a festive mood. being complemented by music from different decades and the group Project M Band holding a live music performance.

Looking back

With humble beginnings in Binondo, Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. has helped thousands of clientele set sail on the seas at ease with its promise of loans having a same-day release. However, when the pandemic struck in 2020, the organization was not spared from other businesses scrambling to cope, especially with everything being remote. Despite a challenging turn, digital-driven initiatives and the hunger for continuous learning became its guiding light.

For one, PCLC professionalized the e-signing process with the Signwell app.

An active Facebook presence was also implemented, with an effort to make the brand more relatable through campaigns like “What the Word?”. Pinoy seafarers were also given a chance to win special prizes with their “Be the Captain” promo, and an opportunity to diversify their income streams through the organization’s “#PCLCKaagapaySaBiyahe Referral Program”. Furthermore, Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. made collections more accessible with the country’s top digital payment platforms GCash and Maya.

Ten years in the making, the proliferation of scams has not stopped Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. from fulfilling its goals. One such effort the organization takes seriously is heightened public awareness of fake social media accounts, groups, Loan Consultants, permits, and certifications.

In coordination with the Department of Justice, Manila Police District, and National Bureau of Investigation, the company now hosts a dedicated public service announcement page on its website to regularly report counterfeits and reminders to take note.

Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. takes this up a notch with its Loan Consultant Accreditation Checker, where clients can verify whether or not their Loan Consultant is accredited with the organization.

A bright future ahead

With all its achievements, PCLC is not one to rest on its laurels. Significant investments are being made as the competition to remain relevant in the market remains steep.

“We are looking into investing more in FinTech. We want to continue evolving with the times and be on top of the game,” Yap said.

A decade in, the company has had its fair share of wins and losses, but the future is looking bright. Yap paints a picture—“Our goal is to establish Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. as the go-to lending company for seafarers. We're confident that our exceptional  service and competitive interest rates make us the top choice.”

In the post-pandemic world where accessibility matters most, Platinum Creditplus Lending Corp. has made its mark and is here to stay.
