BPI celebrates traditions and partnerships with Chinese-Filipino community in Mid-Autumn Festival
The Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) staged a celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival to honor the Chinese-Filipino community and celebrate traditions of unity and prosperity. Themed “Honoring Traditions, Valuing Partnerships”, the event underscores BPI’s long-established relationship with the Chinese-Filipino community.
Falling on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival, is the second grandest festival in China after the Chinese New Year.
BPI President and CEO Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco opened the festivities, welcoming guests from all over the country.
“Tonight, we celebrate not only the enduring relationships that have been cultivated with one another but also the remarkable journey we have embarked upon together,” he said. “We pledge to continue developing new and advanced solutions, all aimed at enhancing your banking experience with us. Our digital journey is firmly anchored in simplifying processes and facilitating your journey towards achieving your business goals.”
In his keynote address, BPI Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala emphasized the significance of sustainable operations in shaping a brighter future, not only for the country but also for the succeeding generations.
“I want to take this opportunity to encourage the active participation of the Chinese-Filipino business sector in realizing this dream for the next generations. Your unique perspective, experience, and expertise are invaluable assets in shaping a sustainable future for our nation and the world,” he said.
On the other hand, Institutional Banking Head Juan Carlos “John-C” Syquia thanked clients and assured them that BPI will continue the tradition of honoring the Chinese-Filipino community.
“We would like BPI to become a bank that is more closely linked to the Chinese-Filipino community. We can only keep and build this tradition with you, our valued clients. In our own way, we would like to use the Mid-Autumn Festival as a way to honor tradition and to honor you. We hope to continue this tradition that we believe brings prosperity and good tidings to you in order for our bank to be able to do more with you so we can all be more for our community,” he said.
BPI's Mid-Autumn Festival was an evening filled with joy and celebration. Upon arriving at the venue, guests were met with distinctive decorations that prominently integrated elements reminiscent of “Chinatown”. The festivities included a variety of games to entertain and engage the guests, ranging from the traditional dice game that sparked excitement, to activities like count the chá, lucky mooncake wall, lucky pai gow, and Chinese jackstones. The event also featured a live consultation with Feng Shui expert Daryl Huang.
Amidst the lively atmosphere, the festival truly came to life with captivating performances. The mesmerizing voice of Bituin Escalante, one of the country’s most celebrated female vocalists, enthralled the audience. Furthermore, the presence of the Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Federation’s drum beaters and the Filipino Chinese Theatre’s fan dancers added a vibrant and festive touch that resonated with the occasion’s theme. The Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Federation’s rhythmic prowess represented a harmonious rhythm to ward off negativity and overcome obstacles. Meanwhile, the Filipino Chinese Theatre’s graceful and synchronized performance underscored the significance of coordination and harmony in the pursuit of success.
BPI’s Mid-Autumn Festival not only showcased the bank’s commitment to its customers, but also created an unforgettable experience uniting culture, celebration, and excellence.
