Calling all aspiring Iskos and Iskas: UP is now accepting applicants for AY 2023-2024

Heads up, aspiring Iskos and Iskas! The University of the Philippines (UP) has opened college applications for academic year 2023 to 2024. The university is accepting applicants until October 15, 2022.

As the UP Office of Admissions earlier announced, there will be no pen-and-paper UP College Admissions Test (UPCAT) for the upcoming school year.

The university will continue using its "admission score model," which has been used since the UPCAT was suspended in 2020, to vet aspiring students. In this model, a student's grade is standardized to account for biases and inflated grades as schools have different grading systems.

Who can apply?

The UPCA is open for senior high school students expecting to graduate before SY 2023-2024 from a secondary school accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd) either in the Philippines or abroad.

The applicant must have their final grades for Grades 8 to 11 and must not have taken any college subjects and the UPCAT previously.

Applications for the UPCA are done online and you'll be presenting the following documents:

  • Form 1 Personal Data Sheet
  • Form 2A (filled out by high school)
  • Form 2B
  • Form 137 or your high school grades

You don't need to pay anything for the application unless you are a non-Filipino student, then you'll need to pay P450.

The UPCA application period is open from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, 2022. Announcements about the results will be posted on UP's website.

Under Republic Act No. 10931, aka the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, undergraduate students are entitled to free tuition.
