Martial law musical "A Game of Trolls" is returning in April and this time, it is out to send its message of #NeverForget and #BayanMunaBagoSarili to a wider audience online.

This was announced by the play's producer, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), in a Facebook post on Monday, March 22.

"This is a critical time to use theater as vehicle for introspection and truth-telling! For our 55th anniversary, we proudly present a musical about martial law, and an advocacy against historical revisionism and fake news," PETA wrote on its caption.

According to the institution's website, "A Game of Trolls" follows the story of Hack, an internet troll hired by "call center" manager Bimbam to help implement his online pro-martial law campaign.

Along the way, he would meet the ghosts of martial law victims who are afraid of being forgotten. These encounters would prompt him to "reflect on his own beliefs" and his relationship with his own mother, who was a martial law activist.

"A Game of Trolls" is written by Liza Magtoto and directed by Maribel Legarda, the same duo that produced the popular jukebox musical "Rak of Aegis."

With a comeback that's scheduled one month prior the May 9 elections, PETA said that it hopes "A Game of Trolls" would encourage young people to "do their own research, to think critically, and to act with responsibility."

"Through the theater, we want to reach the youth of today so they will learn to treasure their freedom, which was fought with blood and tears by their elders," PETA added.

The musical will be available to stream on April 8, 22, and 23 for a fee of P50 via KTX.ph.
