'Taste the TV': Japanese prof creates lickable TV screen that lets you taste food flavors like chocolate

The latest addition to mind-blowing inventions in the world of tech is a prototype lickable TV screen that can mimic food flavors (yes, you read that right) in only a matter of minutes. Just by licking the device, you can taste certain items like chocolate.

Developed by Japanese professor Homei Miyashita, the project—dubbed “Taste the TV” (TTTV)—is made with ten flavor canisters that can come up with a variety of food flavors when sprayed. “The flavor sample then rolls on hygienic film over a flat TV screen for the viewer to try,” as per Reuters.

For Miyashita, who developed the gadget in 2020, it can strengthen people’s connection with the outside world.

“The goal is to make it possible for people to have the experience of something like eating at a restaurant on the other side of the world, even while staying at home,” he said, adding that his incredible creation can be used for online learning for aspiring chefs as well as food-related games.

The developer has additionally “been in talks with companies about using his spray technology for applications like a device that can apply a pizza or chocolate taste to a slice of toasted bread,” according to the report.
