Bioware has announced that it will be releasing a major expansion of the story-driven massively multiplayer online game with Legacy of the Sith, in celebration of its upcoming 10th anniversary.

Legacy of the Sith will feature a new phase in the war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire which has spread to new worlds.

Players will be sent “on a military campaign to secure a vital planet for their faction as they uncover the ultimate plan of the renegade Sith, Darth Malgus,” BioWare said in a press release published by Vulkk.

“The toughest challenges yet, Star Wars: The Old Republic will also be introduced with new collaborative missions, including a Flashpoint set on a mountaintop tomb on the remote planet Elom, as well as an Operation in the remains of a deep space research station,” it added.

The new expansion will return to the aquatic planet of Manaan in pursuit of Darth Malgus with a new base of operations and a new daily area.

Players will have more choices to play, with the introduction of “combat styles,” from the current game that is almost directly one on one.

“Combat Styles will allow players to fulfill their ultimate Star Wars fantasy, independently choosing a specific class story and combining it with ability sets from other related tech or force-wielding classes,” BioWare said.

There will also be updates in itemization and loadout experiences and streamlined class design.

This major expansion is one of the announcements for the anniversary that will be celebrated until 2022.

Although no specific release date was said, Legacy of the Sith will be available on PC through SWTOR.com and Steam this holiday season.
