There’s no better way to comfort a sad soul than by having a good old K-drama binge-fest. Whether you’re planning to swoon at a romantic affair or cry along with a character, these K-dramas are a must-add to your to-watch list.

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist

Premiere date: August 1 on Viki and Viu

Cast: Kim Min-jae, Kim Hyang-gi, Kim Sang-kyung

Think medical romance in the Joseon dynasty. Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist tells the story of physician Yoo Se-poong (Kim Min-hae) who gets ousted from the palace alongside the royal family after a fake conspiracy theory. He soon realizes that there’s more to life than being a trusted help, thanks to the kindness of Seo Eun-woo (Kim Hyang-gi) and Gye Ji-han (Kim Sang-kyung). 

If You Wish Upon Me

Premiere date: August 10 on Viu

Cast: Ji Chang-wook, Choi Soo-young, Sung Dong-il

Life has been rough for Yoon Gyeo-rye (Ji Chang-wook). He’s an orphan since birth and was sent to a juvenile justice center and prison in his youth. Unsure of how to live his life, Gyeo-rye volunteers at hospice shelter where he meets nurse Seo Yeon-joo (Choi Soo-young) and volunteer team leader (Sung Dong-il).

Fancy a K-drama that dives into the stock market? Stock Struck revolves around five best friends who hold a mysterious stock meeting where they learn about the role of money in each other’s lives. 

To give a brief background, Yoo Mi-seo (Han Ji-eun) is set to marry the love of her life but she lost money, while Choi Sun-woo (Hong Jong-hyun) owns fancy items even if he only works at a convenience store. Meanwhile, Kang San (Jung Moon-sung) relies on part-time jobs since he doesn’t believe in money while Kim Jin-bae (Jang Gwang) decided to invest after retiring from his job. On the other hand, Jung Haeng-ja (Kim Sun-young) is on the hunt for alternate ways to earn since she owns a jokbal restaurant.

Don’t be fooled by the title. The family in question is far from being a role model to viewers. The series revolves around troubled couple Park Dong-ha (Jung Woo) and Kang Eun-ju (Yoon Jin-seo) who are on the verge of divorce after a slew of marital problems. Determined to leave his wife for good, Dong-ha unwittingly gets involved in an illegal drug ring after finding a vehicle with a lot of money.

A modern-day Mr. and Mrs. Smith—except the leads are single. The investigative romance revolves around the arrogant Eun Sun-woo (Jung Il-woo) who secretly runs a private detective firm and Don Se-ra (Kwon Yu-ri) who’s born with hyperacuity or supervision. The pair join forces to solve the toughest cases until they eventually develop feelings for one another.

Of course, the list is not complete without a fluffy rom-com. Love By Law follows the extremely intelligent Kim Jung-ho (Lee Seung-gi) and his bestie Kim Yoo-ri (Lee Se-young) whom he has had a crush on for years. To get by, Yoo-ri opens a café in a building that Jung-ho owns which unwittingly sets the tone of their budding love story.
