Xiaomi’s HyperCharge tech can fully charge an empty phone in 8 minutes

Typically, most phones take around two hours or more to charge from zero percent to full. But as more and more companies are innovating their charging tech, we now have chargers capable of filling phones up in less time.

Xiaomi shows off its latest charging tech, called HyperCharge, which the company says is capable of fully charging a phone in just eight minutes.

In the demo, the 200W wired HyperCharge system powered up a modified Mi 11 Pro with a 4,000mAh battery. The phone was able to hit 10 percent in only 44 seconds and 50 percent in three minutes.

That’s not the only record-breaking feat from the Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi also showcased its 120W wireless charging system, which charged the same phone to full in 15 minutes. This beats out the company’s 80W wireless charging solution announced last year, which fully charged a 4,000mAh battery in 19 minutes.

Will this mean future Xiaomi phones will be getting faster charging times? Maybe, but this might be a feature reserved for more high-end flagship devices. Currently, Xiaomi’s Mi 11 flagship, packing a 4,600mAh battery, supports 55W wired fast charging, reaching 100 percent in 45 minutes.
