Isang Harding Papel, a martial law musical featuring an all-kids cast, will stream for free on Facebook on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 to mark the 36th Anniversary of People Power in the Philippines.

The musical is adapted from the Adarna House children’s book of the same name written by Augie Rivera and illustrated by Rommel Joson published by Adarna House in 2014. After a successful first run in 2016 at Miriam College, the play was restaged at the AFP Theater in 2017.

For those who missed out watching the unique musical production, a video recording of the play will be livestreamed via the Dakila FB page at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by a special forum to be held via Zoom at this link.

The actors in the musical are the talented pre-school and grade school students of Raya School, a progressive school based in Quezon City.

Isang Harding Papel tells the story of Jenny, a young girl who regularly visits her mother, a political prisoner, in jail. Set in the time of martial law in the Philippines, the musical tells the story through a child’s point of view, and shows us how childhood is defined and redefined in trying times.

The special screening held in partnership with Active Vista, Dakila, and Dokyu Power, was written for the stage by Nanoy Rafael and adapted for the Stage by Cacy Abadeza, Sofia Baybay, Isabel de la Cruz, Ella Francia, and Nanoy Rafael. The music is by Thea Tolentino, while production design is by Boni Juan.
