Square Enix reveals new trailer for 'Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend'

Back in the late '80s and early '90s, the SaGa series of science fantasy open world role-playing video games was produced by Square (now Square Enix) for the Game Boy.

It was released in the global market under the name Final Fantasy Legend. The series was notable for its emphasis on open world exploration, non-linear branching plots, and occasionally unconventional gameplay.

Thirty years later, the game developer announced the release of the classic video game series, this time for the Nintendo Switch.

During the 2020 Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix revealed a new trailer for the Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend. This collection includes the first three games of the series, now equipped with a number of improvements and adaptations for modern hardware.

First among the improvements are the speed boost, a retro display mode, and new commemorative music and art. Gamers can also remove Joy-Cons and rotate the Switch vertically to feel like playing on a Game Boy again. Screen magnification can be adjusted, as well as the game screen’s background wallpaper for better customization.

Will you be getting this classic game? You’ll have a few months left of waiting, though. Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend arrives Dec. 15 on Nintendo Switch.
